CANADIAAAAAH!!!
and goddam Heathrow Hell

SO against all odds (arriving at heathrow a little late, sans ticket and sans sleep) i managed to make it to Toronto!

First hurdle was getting my stolen ticket reissued. The lady on the United Airlines helpline said 'just rock up with your print out and you'll be sweet', or words to that effect. So I did...only to be told:

'umm that is not enough information. i cannot help you. you have two options: either buy a whole new ticket and get your travel agent to refund it later (yeh...), or miss the flight, call your travel agent tomorrow and get the info, and fly tomorrow.'.

NEITHER of these were particularly tempting, and i started looking around for the tv cameras and the crew of the reality tv show 'AIRPORT' cos that's exactly what it felt like.

Luckily the manager took pity on me (or maybe he was just trying to kill some time and avoid the psycho family man behind us who was berating them for their lack of consideration, over and over and over) and managed to perform some form of mathematical miracle and reissue my ticket with all the right info. i love him.

Relieved, Angus and I checked in my bag and rearranged my three jackets, two hand held bags, one day pack and one blanket so that i could adhere to Heathrow's 'one piece of hand luggage' policy. We stood in the kilometres long (possible exaggeration) security line and then we said our seeyoubyes! aww.

Once i got through the mammoth security check process the tv screens started flashing 'GATE CLOSING' for my flight!! so i sprinted all the way to GATE 28 and just made it, slightly sweatier than you'd generally want to be.

8 uncomfortable hours later and i arrived in THE LAND OF MAPLE SYRUP AND TERENCE AND PHILIP!

TORONTO

I'm staying with my cousin Aaron and his Canadian fiance May in their cute apartment...but as of Saturday i will be staying in their NEW HOUSE! very exciting. So far i've spent my time chilling out with them, seeing Niagara Falls (whoa!!), exploring a bit of this very Sydney city and sleeping!

My camera battery is dead but once i find a charger i will upload pics from here as well as from the rest of DEUTSCHLAND and of ANGUSFEST IN LONDON DEC06.
