Snapshot of some things I did pre-desert

Chilled at Killcare:

On an uneventful Wednesday a few weeks back I decided to drive myself up to Killy for a couple of days. Lovely.

Except the beach was covered in hundreds of mysterious fish corpses.
And bluebottles. But there was a nice untainted patch where i happily frolicked and baked and snoozed and read.
My favourite rock platform!! I miss the beach already.

Mediocre Vibrations:
Claire and I were very grateful for the free tickets to Good Vibes. But we won't be going again. It was just a little bit crap. I'm pretty sure everyone except for us and our vlose acquaintances (most of whom we didn't even meet up with) was 19, blonde, fake-tanned, vapid and drugged out. Or pretending to be drugged out.

This is as close as we could get to the stage inside the tent where the idiotic organisers had decided to plonk Jurassic Fekkin Five!!!! Ohhhhh deary me. The legendary hip hop greats were clearly, CLEARLY going to be more popular than Sydney's own gobshites SNEAKY fekkin Sound System...yet Sneaky SS get the main stage, whilst J5 are shunted to the tent, with their fans spilling out all over the place trying to get a glimpse or, at the very least, a snippet of their sound untainted by Sneaky Sound System's uninspired drivel!!!

Come on, those who are so inclined can go see SSS any saturday night in sydney. This is J5's last tour to Aus. Fools!!

My man Snoop. The not so secret Secret Act. What a surprise that the man who was booked for every other Good Vibes turned out to be the surprise act at Sydney's show. Whoa. He was pretty damn cool. And he got up with the Beastie Boys too! Beastie Boys were ace, though they are looking pretty old, and the sound was shite. And they forgot their lyrics at least once - a pretty poor effort since their songs tend to be comprised of about 9 words (3 each). Yes they played Sabotage. That was pretty sweet.

Crashed Ezray's Work Bash

No caption needed.

Erica's work had a social function. Being the new kid, she decided it'd be good form to bring 3 plus ones instead of just one. Why not? So i rocked up and sat with her, her sis Immy, and Timmy. Soon we ran away to Victoria Room, which was rather flash and quite beautifully fitted out, especially in terms of bar staff. Had some delicious and expensive cocktails then went to...

Purple Sneakers!!

Immy chocked. Tim got many comments on his i HEART Dubbo tee. We all danced. I had a majoy stack at the end of the night. Just went FLYING and landed flat, facing down, spreadeagled on the outside wooden dance box things. Made a racket, scared the shit out of tim, spilled my drink everywhere. Had a headach, mega knee bruises and sore ribs for a while but no permanent damage as yet.

Mardi Gras!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So by now we have all established that my camera is awesome except AT NIGHT and AT A DISTANCE.

This is the best photo i got on MG night.

So let's just talk about it. In dot points.

  • Hung out at Ant's friend Ants' apartment on Flinders Street, on the balcony with the BEST view in the history of Mardi Gras parties.
  • Went absolutely WILD when our Life Savers, including Tim and Karla, turned the corner. I Need a Hero! BAM! Ohhh ant and i were screaming and jumping around and i was so so so proud!
  • Drank lots of goon.
  • Started falling asleep at the apartment so Carla and I 'went home', but accidentally fell into the gay bar up the road. Had a drink and chatted to some very friendly homosexuals before making a dash for it when this lesbian we'd been watching walk up to everyone in the bar, introduce herself then pash them started winking at us and walking over.
  • 'Went home' via a solid few hours dancing at the Columbian with new friendly friends.
  • Got home at 6am and slept very very well indeed. Until....
Laneway Festival!
Ant and I on the patch of grass we occupied for the entire day.

This is an uber-cool festival. A recent import from Melbourne, it is a laid back indie festival aimed at presenting interesting music in an urban setting. Kind of like Reclaim the Streets minus the lycra.

It was the best cure to a post-Mardi Gras hangover ever.

Best bands on the day including Camera Obscura, Gerling, Peter Bjorn and John and Youthgroup.

i heart sepia tone.

The Final Countdown..

My last weekend in Syd was full of goodness. Friday was after work drinks with union friends and uni friends and some drop ins at The Rose. Tim's suggestion of heading to the Imperial for the second lot of the Little Britain drag shows (we saw the first part last week) was very welcome so Ant Tim and I choofed off over to the Erskineville establishment. It was so much fun - dancing plus drinking plus fabulous drag shows plus rude and crudeness = excellent end to a night out. Except that the night actually continued, with a 3am dinfest (like brunch, but held between dinner and breakfast??) with Adrian at MAISY'S! hahaha classy.

i love sweatpatches! yeh!!

Tim's pretty shy about his sexuality. As are the Little Britain drag queens.

Then on Satdy Tim had a party. The theme must have been 'blue t shirts' but we weren't informed. It was lovely, then we went to Spectrum which of course was also lovely. The tiniest tiniest gay man kept dirty dancing with me. He was seriously miniature.
On Sunday Adrian had the inpsired idea to utilise his free tickets to the Playground Weekender festival. So after very little sleep we (he) drove out to Wisemans Ferry for it. It's a nice quiet little festival in a sweet location, by the Hawkesbury. But I think everyone has festival fatigue cos it was pretty quiet. Good though.

  • Drove 1.5 hours each way, spent 3 hours in total at the festival
  • gozleme = best hangover food ever. beers are also good.
  • managed to arrive at each stage about 2 mins after each band finished
  • fell asleep under some trees
  • Tolerated The Punisherz
  • ran into Tess for the ferry ride back! Small world.

That night I gorged on delicious thai food with the school girlies (including Davide). Then i went home, packed, went to Dad's (via's Ant's)...and now here I am in Alice Springs!

I actually intended to blog about Alice but that will have to wait til tomorrow my friends!
