Listerine is no longer available for sale in town, because some absolutely desperate souls figured out it was a very easy and very cheap way to get alcohol.
So it is no longer on the shelves. Fortified wines and glass flaggons have been banned for a while already, and bottle-os have restricted opening hours. There's talk of new ID checks at some of the bottle-os to cut down on multiple purchases. But mouth wash????

While working on the advertising for the said mouthwash, I discovered a woman in america had been arrested for drinking and driving. She was found with 5 empty bottles of listerine on her back seat.

Alice becomes dry city
Drinking alcohol in public is to be banned in Alice Springs from August 1.
The ban, approved by the Northern Territory Licensing Commission, will apply in all public areas, including the main thoroughfare Todd Mall, parks, camps and suburbs, according to an AAP report.
Only two areas - the Telegraph Station picnic area and Namatjira's camp will be exempt.
Commission chairman Richard O'Sullivan told AAP the ban was to be implemented to ensure residents felt safe, but also because anti-social behaviour and public drinking issues impact negatively on the tourist industry in the town and the public perception as an attractive place to visit.
A major advertising drive will be run to inform residents and tourists of the ban, which will be reviewed after one year.
