One Night in Bangkok....

and the world's your slimey mussel! After hearing her sing it in every city, in every town and even in the shower, Monique finally gets to sing "one night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster" legitimately. Whoever taught her that song had no idea what they unleashing on the world!

We are in Bangkok for less than 24 hours on our way to Laos. Original plans to make it to Laos overland through north eastern Cambodia fell apart when we realised we were in for a 20 hour bus trip through not so safe southern Laos, plus a few days circumnavigating rural Cambodian provinces on the way to the border.

Instead we got on this crap as crap oven referred to as a "vip bus" for most of yesterday. After waltzing (slowly) over the border, Aussie passports in hand, we got put on the back of an open cattle truck which left us stranded at a roadside cafe for two hours. Finally our luxurious bus arrived (with an upholstered seat each AND curtains AND air conditioning!!) and we sped away down the quality, bitchuman roads of Thailand and into Bangkok. After spending so much time in Siem Reap, Bangkok feels like Sydney. Only with more offers of ping pong shows.
