Vegetarian Delight!
Luang Prabang is a really lovely old town in Laos - it is full of Wats (temples) and has great shopping at the night markets and really good food. But then you send a vegetarian out to the fresh food markets and for a stroll around town and she finds this! These ladies have sticks with plastic bags on the end for swatting the many many flies off the fresh meat. mmm. Not as bad as the markets in Phonsavanh though - i walked through the middle of them and found specialty stalls that sell only rats, or possums, or one selling only birds. Small birds - what you would call a Swallow. The local delicacy round those parts is deep fried whole Swallow.

Again - mmmmm!
