Hey Cow!
A cow having a look in a Sari shop in Varanasi. There are cows everywhere in this crazy town, mostly in the middle of the road. We very nearly hit a calf thanks to our kamakazi rickshaw driver one afternoon.
The cows are sacred to Hindus so they pretty much rule the town. Not that you'd know it when you see them eating rubbish or covered in filth but on the whole they are very nice and not too shabby looking. No one owns them, but people feed them to gain good karma, and if one gets sick or injured the council pays for its vet fees!
Varanasi, and India in general, smells like a cross between the Easter Show, incense and wee wee.
Mainly the latter.
